SAVE THE DATE, SPREAD THE WORD!
On AUGUST 20, 2002 there will be a statewide protest in four cities against Gray Davis’ illegal parole policy. Davis refuses to release women survivors of domestic violence who have received parole dates from the Parole Board (appointed by the Governor).
Most recently Davis reversed the parole recommendation for Maria Suarez. Suarez was sold to a 68 year old rapist and batterer for $200 when she was only 16 years old and has served 21 years in prison for a crime she did not commit. Recent court decisions have ruled that Davis and the Parole Board are violating the law by not releasing both women and men prisoners who are eligible for parole. We must let Davis know we will not let this continue!
RELEASE BATTERED WOMEN PRISONERS NOW!
END THE ILLEGAL NO-PAROLE POLICY!
Protests will occur at Davis offices in San Francisco, Sacramento, Los Angeles and San Diego. Hundreds of letters of protest will be presented to each office. Current info for various locations as follows.
